Why do you believe in a God you've never seen? Why do you believe in heaven and hell, when nobody on Earth has ever seen either? If you believe that everything in the bible is sacred and is God "word", then why have some of you considered the Old Testament void because the "times have changed"? Who announced that the old testament no longer applies because the new testament was written? And those of you who still live by the old testament, do you live by the incest, rape, inferiority of women, killing gays, and murder, that is described in many books of the old testament? And if not, then why? Its apparently "God's word". Does the new testament mean that God changed his mind?
Please explain for me....without the preaching.

Some people just believe whatever they want, regardless of rationality and evidence, because they opt for illusion instead of despair. It is very easy to see life in a negative light. We don't choose to live or the conditions we are born into. Most of us are conceived by accident and born to parents who are basically winging it without a clues as to what they're doing. People all over the world suffer by no fault of their own and we all die eventually. While we are alive, we try to cope with a never-ending list of problems, ranging from hunger to relationship conflicts. Our existence is inherently problematic. These are the facts. Depressing aren't they?

To cope with the sadness of reality, people want their lives to mean something, they want their suffering to have purpose. So they dream up concepts of deities who care about mankind and parcel out divine judgment, even though there is no real evidence to support any of it. They rather believe in what they imagine than what is right in front of their eyes because reality is depressing. Since this illusion over despair approach is adopted by most people, it seems like the thing to do. I guess its a choice we all have to make.

i believe in the bible because i have seen the living proof that has come from the bible i was born with an AVM although all the years i did not know,i knew i had headaches but just assumed mine were like everyone elses because i didnt know the difference i was very athletic and outgoing until i had grand mall seizures and had to go through a battery of tests and doctors, when diagnosed i went to Dallas in Zale Lipshy hospital and had 3 embulizations in which i seized everytime so they gave me 80to 20 chance of dying at that time i said Lord its up to you and from there He carried me/when Jesus so perfect and pure shed his blood on the cross for our salvation and that made the old testament still Gods way of doing things but we no longer live by the laws because people are incapable of keeping the law we are to fallible God knew from the beginning all things that would happen God is not a man that can lie so it would be impossible for Him to change His mind
