Okay, everyone will say "making love" is about an emotional connection and you love the person, and sex is just having sex with someone you don't really care about, but that's really not true.

It's just words... for the same thing. I'm in love with my fiance, and we have a connection and all that, but we hate the phrase "making love" because it sounds lame. We say "having sex" just because it means the same thing and it doesn't sound as stupid. And we have a connection no matter what we're doing, not just sex.

You can call it whatever you want to call it, but it all means the same thing....

And sex for the first time will hurt but it's worth the fun afterwards...

Generally sex and making love each involved sexual intercourse...most people say sex is purely physical with little or no emotion, caring or commitment or relationship involved...sex is had just for the sake of having an orgasm and sexual enjoyment.

Making love is when sex is joined with good, healthy and caring emotions for the other person and the two people want to show their affection through foreplay, words, caresses AND sexual intercourse. THAT IS BEAUTIFUL

The first time CAN be slightly painful IF the woman's hymen is still intact but it is not bad.

Afterward having sexual intercourse should not hurt and if it does there is usually a medical reason for it which a doctor could alleviate.

They are the same act, basically. It is usually referred to as sex for the more casual, physical pleasure driven connotation. It is referred to as making love for the more romantic, emotionally driven connotation or for the implied intimacy and tenderness between a loving couple. Making love is almost always used in the beautiful context of an act of intimacy between a man and a woman. You can have sex with someone you don't particularly care about. It won't usually be referred to as making love to him. With a boyfriend or a spouse, it can be either making love or having sex.

For your first time, it will probably hurt a bit and be uncomfortable. He will need to be especially gentle and patient.
