One of the problems with pharmaceticals is that they are designed to scoop as much money out of your pocket as possible. In North America, perscription drugs have risen over 40% in the past decade alone. And women are the single most overmedicated group. The companies are in it to make money, pure and simple. That explains just some of reasons why it's so expensive, as well as dangerous. Testing for years costs soooo much, instead of just getting it on the shelves...

There are many remedies available that are totally safe, self-administered, and nearly as cheap as dirt. Raw herbs are a few dollars a bag. Get them as fresh as possible, and make the infusions and decoctions yourself. EFA as flax seed oil is a few bucks a pop.

Why does everyone seem to think that depression is solved by taking anti depressants? I have been through anxiety depression and not once did I take drugs...in fact my doctor wouldn't allow it, instead referring me to a therapist to help me work out my problem. The doctor said that the drugs only mask the systems, they are still there...and unless you work through what caused the depression in the first place then you will always have to be on the anti depressants...which happens to most people.

Have you thought about trying to boost your self esteem and working from there? It isn't as hard as you would first imagine...all you have to do is think of one good thing you like about yourself everyday without adding "but" to the sentence. It could be how you look, your personal traits (strength, courage, stamina....eg), how you handled a situation....anything. Do it everyday. What happens is you begin to train the mind to not think so negatively and you are taking the time to look for the good, so when you feel down on yourself you can remember all the good too. That was the first thing my therapist gave me to do, and I began seeing results within a month....it took longer to like myself, but I could see a start.

If you work through your problems then you won't need to find the money to buy the drugs.

I agree with what was said in a previous answer...check with your doctor to see if you can get some medication samples to last you until you have money to pay for a prescription. Also certain organizations that advocate for people with mental illness (like NAMI) can help you get the meds you need. Hope this helps.

I would contact your doctor and see if samples are available for you. Also, you could contact your local mental health building and ask about assistance for meds that are prescribed, I'm sure they could help out somehow. Good luck, it's important to take the meds, as well as get diapers,I hope things get better for you.
