Just tell him that you have thought it through and have decided this is what you want even if it's not what he wants. Tell him that whether he likes it or not you have grown up and one day when you don't want the tounge ring, you can take it out. Just tell him you wanted to respect him by letting him know because you thought you two were close enough to tell each other everything. He may not accept it right now but he will. Good luck

Wait until you turn 18 and than just go and get it done. That is my suggestion. When I was your age no one could tell me any different. I was 16 when I got my tongue pierced because a friend of mine worked at the tattoo shop. Anyways, it turned out to be a Huge pain in my a**. The first week is so miserable! Not painful but annoying. Your tongue is so swollen and you can't talk and everything you eat feels like you are going to swallow your own tongue. After the swelling went down it turned out that the jewelery shifted and was off center. So I took it out and got it re-pierced. Went through all the hassle again with the swelling and than the 2nd hole ripped with the first hole and now I have a permanent slash in my tongue. Not to mention after all that hassle I couldn't even continue to wear jewelery. Do what you want to do but it isn't all its cracked up to be. Get your nipples pierced instead! (lol just kidding!)

you probably cant change his mind on the matter. And for all counts he does have a right to not agree with it. You can have a lot of problems from piercings. Not just with tongue, but with any. I just found out that one of my customers that come to my store had a 16yr old daughter die yesterday. She had a belly ring done about 6months or so ago. About a week ago she started getting flu like symptoms and the doctors gave her meds for the flu. Come to find out it was actually blood poisoning from the piercing. She had gotten the ring without her fathers permission. Now he has to mourn a beautiful child over a stupid fad. Good luck with whatever you choose hon. Just make sure to think about if you want it bad enough. Can you picture yourself at 50 or 60 with it? If not than it is usually a bad choice.

Did you miss the story about the girl that got her tongue pierced, ended up with a massive infection and died? Just think this through carefully and research it thoroughly. You may never convince your dad to accept it - but do your research and be sure before you have it done after you turn 18.

I don't think you can make him more accepting of the tongue piercing. He sees no value in it, because really, there is none. What are your reasons for wanting this? Can you see his fears for your health and well being? The way society views people with tongue piercings is usually not good. Right or wrong, that is how you will be viewed and he is probably afraid for your future employment or social opportunities if you are seen only as someone who pierced their tongue.

Sorry, he's from my generation and it just AIN'T gonna happen. But go ahead anyway, when you're 18. You'll just break his heart and make him think he has failed at being a parent somewhere along the way.

He won't. He is right. What possible good reason is there for doing that? You may give better head afterward, but you will talk funny. Perhaps that isn't what he wants for his daughter. It also makes you look really professional in later job interviews and such!

Don't do it. It affects your speech and can cause problems. It might seem like a good idea but its not. Pierce something else.
