A ticket doesn't change into a warrant. If you fail to pay the ticket or fail to appear at the arraignment or hearing that will be scheduled, a warrant will issue.

I don't think the ticket itself becomes a warrant, but they do issue a warrant if you don't show up for court when you're supposed to.

My friend got a ticket, then didn't show up for her court date so it became a warrent. Luckily she lives in the neighboring state. It took a couple months for this to happen.
