Severe headaches are never normal and need to be checked out by a doctor. Severe headaches can be a sign of a brain tumor or an aneurysm so see a doc to find out what is going on.

You're probably inducing hypogycemia by not including enough simple sugars when you reduce your caloric intake. (I can only assume that's what you mean by 'diet'. A diet is what we normally eat. A fad diet or dieting means a change in diet, usually to lose wieght.)
"A person with hypoglycemia may feel weak, drowsy, confused, hungry, and dizzy. Paleness, headache, irritability, trembling, sweating, rapid heart beat, and a cold, clammy feeling are also signs of low blood sugar. " http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/h/hypoglycemia/symptoms.htm
"Other symptoms of hypoglycemia are caused when not enough glucose gets to the brain; in fact, the brain is the organ that suffers most significantly and most rapidly when there's a drop in blood sugar. The symptoms that can result include headache, extreme hunger, blurry or double vision, fatigue, and weakness." http://www.kidshealth.org/teen/question/illness_infection/hypoglycemia.html

Your best bet is to include simple sugars. Your body is telling you in very clear terms it's just not enough to run on. Sweets don't make you fat. The fructose in that apple will simply not be turned into fat. If simple sugars aren't used by your system, they simply pass on through.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

Maybe you are not drinking enough water. If you don't drink enough water, no matter what you eat your body will become dehydrated and cause severe headaches. It could be that you are depriving yourself of much needed nutrients in your body. The best diet is to eat healthily but in moderation.

It's usually normal - your body is reacting to less sugar, carbs, caffeine, or whatever you're cutting out. The headaches should go away in a few days. If not, consult your doctor.
Hope that helps!

Me too! Make sure you are getting enough fluids and protein. So many diets want more water, so you cut sugar drinks. Make sure you don't cut the total number of fluids while doing more water. Also cutting fat can crowd into the protein group...make sure there is enough protein in your diet. Lastly, ease into your diet. I tried to go RIGHT into it and got stressed and found I wasn't eating and drinking enough. Take care and good luck

I always get a headache when I start a new diet. Have you cut caffeine out of your diet? If so, you may be having withdrawal from no caffeine.

Don't take Excederin -- It has caffiene in it and causes caffiene headaches when you stop taking it.
Add vitamins into your diet. You aren't getting enough of something and it is causing the headaches.
Good Luck!

When we diet we usually limit sugar and carbs.. our bodies in a way are addicted to the amount we usually consume... so in a way our bodies go threw a withdrawl of these things. stick to it, they usually stop after a couple of days!
