Bhagwad Gita is very significant to Hindu religion, this is what Lord Krishna revealed to Arjun in the war of Mahabharata. Every Hindu must follow what is said in the Gita. Its treated as a sacred scripture in Hindu religion. It has 18 chapters & it depicts what a human being should do, how he should live his life. What should be the goal of a human being & how he/she can achieve the goal.

It has been rightly said as the song of the supreme lord and that too in a battlefield.
The Srimad Bhagvad Gita contains the entire supreme absolute truth in seven hunded concise verses.
God who is the supreme absolute, states this truth for the benefit of Arjuna and through him the future generations.
It is made easy to understand since it is in the form of a dialogue which starts with Arjuna in a precarious position.

The Bhagavad Gita (Sanskrit: à¤à¤à¤µà¤¦à¥à¤à¥à¤¤à¤¾ - Bhagavad GÄ«tÄ, "Song of God" or "Divine Song" is an ancient Sanskrit text comprised of 700 verses from the Mahabharata (Bhishma Parva chapters 25 – 42. Krishna, as the speaker of the Bhagavad Gita is referred to within as Bhagavan (the divine one), and the verses themselves, using the range and style of Sanskrit meter (chandas) with similes and metaphors, are written in a poetic form that is traditionally chanted; hence the title, which translates to "the Song of the Divine One". The Bhagavad Gita is revered as sacred by the majority of Hindu traditions, and especially so by followers of Krishna. In general speech it is commonly referred to as The Gita.
The content of the text is a conversation between Krishna and Arjuna taking place on the battlefield of Kurukshetra just prior to the start of a climactic war. Responding to Arjuna's confusion and moral dilemma, Krishna explains to Arjuna his duties as a famous warrior and Prince and elaborates on a number of different Yogic and Vedantic philosophies, with examples and analogies. This has led to the Gita often being described as a concise guide to Hindu philosophy and also as a practical, self-contained guide to life. During the discourse, Krishna reveals his identity as the Supreme Being Himself (Bhagavan), blessing Arjuna with an awe-inspiring glimpse of His divine absolute form.
The Bhagavad Gita is also called GÄ«topaniá¹£ad as well as Yogupaniá¹£ad, implying its status as an 'Upanishad'. While technically it is considered a Smá¹ti text, it has singularly achieved a status comparable to that of Åruti, or revealed knowledge.

The Gita or Bhagvad Gita as it commonly referred to, is a compilation of all the teachings of Lord Krishna - the knowledge imparted by him to Arjuna during the Mahabharata war. His gleanings include the essence of life, the values of life and the reasons of us coming on this earth. He has made Arjuna understand the "karma" (work) he has to do - when he has to do & why he has to do. Lord Krishna had to explain this to Arjuna when he refused to kill his own relatives on the battlefield. The essence of all this being that the one who does bad or supports the wrong-doers, has to meet a bad end.

It is about the Song of Life.A song that comes about at the hard times to soothen the mind and to relax and to find the energies back to look at life differently and to not to loose the direction but to loosen the tentions to carry on with what one is suppose to do and not to be worried too much about being that and this,as life is a battle field anyway, so why not make it a playground.Sing and dance and enjoy everything what you suppose to do till the last minute because it is not worth it other wise.Perhaps is the message of the celestial song for the modern times which are much harder and terrifying.
