I just started my 1yr old on milk from soy formula. (on soy because he had issues with milk) So far he seems to like the whole milk fine. He does seem to have a bit of a sour stomach though. The doctor said if he has diaherra then he's allergic to milk. He doesn't have diaherra but does seem to have a lot more gas and his stools are slightly looser and defintely different. Does that sound normal?

I started my daughter from Soy formula to whole milk too 2 weeks ago. I am not sure how you did it, but my doctor advised me not to do it cold turkey. I started by mixing one ounce to her formula on each feeding and now she is up to 5 ounces.

She has a bit of a sour stomach, and some spit ups. She poops more often now (because of the fat in the milk) but in general, she took it well.

I would say having looser stool and more gas is fine. He will adjust. But if he gets diarrhea, call the doctor. Also, replace the food that produces gas (like peas) with something else until he gets passed this stage

It might be his body adjusting to the milk from formula. My little one farts all the time and has some loose stools still and she is 2. If he is still having soft stools after a week or two then call the doctor. Or try giving him a little bit of soy milk and see how he reacts. My daughter went from soy formula to whole milk just fine but every child is different.

Your son should not be placed on cow's milk. Once he has been weened from his mother's milk there is no further dietary requirement for milk, especially that of a cow! Gas and bloating are symptoms of lactose intolerance, a perfectly normal and acceptable occurance. Don't force milk upon your son. It will have the exact opposite effect of what you are intending.

Humans are the only animal that drinks milk past infancy, and then it's not even from the correct species! Too many people are still trying to defend milk's supposed health benefits. Unfortunately, they are either using old information or information obtained from research funded by the dairy association. How many people would enjoy a glass of dog's milk or rat's milk? What makes cows special?

There are only two reasons which I've found to support humans drinking cow's milk. We have grown up hearing that it's good for us and we've grown accustomed to the taste and texture. There is absolutely no nutrition that can not be obtained elsewhere, minus the negatives. Calcium seems to be the major claim for milk. It can be found elsewhere in green vegetables, almonds, and many other sources. Where do you think the cows obtain the calcium to put into the milk? Where do other larger animals (elephants, horses, deer, whales, etc) get calcium? Why we continue to drink cow's milk laced with growth hormones, antibiotics, and who knows what else is beyond me.

Since I've given up drinking milk about 5 years ago my health has greatly improved. I suffer fewer allergy problems, asthma and breathing problems are greatly reduced, I'm sleeping better, and I have more energy.

In the '50s smoking was considered harmless but now we realize its dangers. One person at a time and eventually the truth will become widely known that cow's milk is only for baby cows. Milk is indeed the perfect food, but only for infants of the proper species.

Do some research online and decide for yourself.

My daughter had the same thing only she vomited milk up everytime. She still cannot drink milk to this day and she is 3. I think the soy formula messes them up. They put my daughter on soy in the hospital without even trying the milk based formula.

Give it a day or two to see if he adjusts to the milk. But my daughter had firmer stools when she started drinking whole milk, so if it continues go to the doctor again, gas is hard on a baby.

I have a daughter who is allergic to soy milk. I think that if he gets diarrhea, a rash, or runny nose, watery eyes, then he is allergic and you should give soy milk. If not then try the Lactaid Milk.

It could be just his body adjusting to the milk. I think there's lactose-free whole milk (Lactaid is one brand) and I beleive there's also soy milk that's equivilant to whole cows' milk. If it doesn't change in two weeks, I'd suggest trying one of those.

i would give it a day or two (unless he becomes really ill) at this age this type of diet would normally cause a change in 'bottom habits' untill the body gets used to the changes i diet. I AM NOT A PROFESSIONAL it is just from my personal knowledge and experience.

That sounds normal. As he adjusts to the new dietary change, things should go back to normal--eventually resembling adult stools.
