Who agrees with me?

Religion is the root of all evil really. It causes friction and problems so much so that wars break out...

Not all problems are caused because of religion.

Think about murders, rapes, kidnappings, robbery. Those are caused by hatred and greed. Religion teachers one to not do those things, to not think bad thoughts. Religion teaches morals and virtues. Buddhism is a peaceful religion. Christianity teachers people to be like Jesus, helping the world. Plenty of other religions promote peace as well.

If there wasn't religion, there wouldn't be religious wars, but there would be so much more chaos.

No, can't say that I agree with you. The root cause of all evil is the fact that human beings are capable of an almost infinite amount of greed, pride, anger, violence, and evil.

If it wasn't for people who practice the tenants of their faith, this world would be a lot worse off than it is. Someone who is genuinely trying to be like their loving, caring, and merciful Savior is going to be doing things to make this world a better place for others.

Religion isn't the evil that people try to make it out to be. It's one of the few things that ever has a positive effect on people's ethics and morals.

I agree that religion has been at the core of many a war and battle. People are passionate about religion. However, if there were no religion, the passions people have for money, power, and woman would cause them to fight and have wars also. The only way for peace is for EVERYONE, at the same time, to have a passion for it. What's your passion?

Nope - if there were no religion, then there would be no religion - it would not cause or prevent any other behaviors necessarily. Religion is not the root of all evil, it is just one more attempt by people to understand their feelings and the abstractions in their lives and deal with their fear.

Of course there wouldn't be infinite peace. I agree that there has been a great deal of strife because of religions. I also believe that people are inherently good, and it doesn't take religion to make them so.

That's absurd and you know it. Religions are not the cause of wars. Wars are about power and control and nothing else. People have fought each other since the beginning of time. About
land, food sources, gold, spices, etc. Your question, no doubt, is assuming that the war in Iraq is about religion, which it is not. Again it is about power and control and nothing else.

Not the root of all evil, but the root of the bulk of evil yes. If it weren't for religion there would be world peace. There would still be the occasional crime or murder, but it would take place much less often.

Dear Friend,

True Christians are lovers of peace.

The bible teaches:

The Greatest Commandment
Matthew22:34Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[b] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[c] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

The Lord clearly teaches us that viiolence is not an option for Christians.

God Bless

There are other subjects of disagreement but getting rid of religion and religious fanatics would certainly make the world more peaceful.

not peace, just real problems that we could better spend our energy working to solve. Instead of made up drama about made up worlds and super beings.
