Could be BUT (and I'm no expert) I read that the last remaining trace of pre-indoeuropean language was in the Basque region which is a long way away from Scandinavia. Would it not be more like folk memories of successive, later, and purely indo-european migrations. The Irish legends appear to be like this - they identify three sucessive migrations supplanting the aboriginal population.

They represent Viking pantheons, but any attempts to reconstruct an Indo-European pantheon are tentative at best.
