Kids these days are getting more and more grounded. What are the ups and downs of these punishments to children? Would you recommend children being grounded?

Well their friends will know about the punishment and they restricted from doing what they want. But on the other hand, i know a lot more cons to the situation: 1. They'll have more time to be aggry with the parents, 2. They're going to go back to what they use to do. 3. The parents aren't making enough restrictions. There needs to be more "punish" in the punishment.

It's not so good if the kid can find ways to entertain himself while grounded. When I was young, my mother would sometimes ban me from using the phone as punishment, but I'd call my friends anyway when she wasn't around. Most kids are clever enought to "get around" being punished, behind their parents backs.

I can tell you the down of grounding... as a parent I get grounded. :(
Up ... they get to think about whatever caused the grounding.
Down... if the kid doesn't care, the grounding doesn't mean anything.

Grounding is such a lame punishment. These days 10 year old kids have things in their rooms like computers ps2 so it rally does not matter.

It depends on how smart, crafy and defiant the child is. My brother is 14. When he gets grounded, our parents take his ps2 up into their room, but since my brother is a sneaky kid, he just goes up and takes it.
But if you have a good way to monitor your child, I say go for it

there's not really a way to endofre grounding school and work only i guess, but if the kid is a good lier, she'll tell you she's goign to school row ork or staying for a club meeting or whatever

4 everyone If you get grounded I would look for board games...
If you are a gurl play wit stuffed animals...dolls...etc.
If you are a boy....musical instermant.....power rangers...
- If you are grounded from T.V, iPod, C.D player, Sterio, etc....
Just play and make up things like imangernairy friends....
These are what to do's......Just don't do what ur not alloowed to...you will be grounded for longer!!!

Grounding them teaches them things but on the other hand it makes them mad..
