My best friend was shot at age 34 ... It was unexpected and the family is having a hard time dealing with the loss... I thought that a scrapbook made by all his friends to present to the family would be a good idea.... the memorial is going to be very casual and almost like a "gathering" instead... what do you think?

i think that is an awsome idea its hard to loose someone i am very srry about your loss i also lost my best friend in 04 at the age of 35 she had a heart attack and died instantly.. when she died i had so much to say so i wrote it all down in a letter to her and i gave it to her mom and we put the letter in her casket during the viewing and then at the funeral they read the letter outloud. we made copies of that letter and i have one as does her mom and dad and one went with her. her mom started a memory book and at any time someone can jot down a memory or a story about her and we put it in that book and every year they have a party in her honner and everyone can read that book and add to it.. srry to ramble on but i just think that anything you want to do that will help you deal with the loss is good... take care and my thoughts are with you

I feel differently from the first answer and you will really have to do what you think works the best for that family. I had an aunt to die suddenly, also in her 30's. We were so set aback and almost destroyed inside, but the very beautiful, fancy, pretty traditional church service gave us some solace in knowing that she was in a better place and would have been so impressed and excited the way we sent her home to the Lord. Still I do think a scrapbook is a good idea. Maybe during the service the people could be asked to give a couple of pictures, if they have them, to the family to be put in a scrapbook or if you have enough pictures you and others can put together a scrapbook yourselves to be presented to the family.
