There have been no tropical cyclones near Cairns this year so far but there have been floods just south of Cairns and roads have been cut. You can keep a check on what is happening on the Bureau of Meteorology website at http://www.bom.gov.au

Specific information for Queensland is here:

None. He's probably just having a good time with all the bikini clad good-looking Australian girls we have down here, they mostly congregate in Cairns, and they usually love foreigners.

So if you get an Australian Phone Directory and start cold-calling all the female sounding names in the book, you should eventually get him.

Look on website www.bigpond.com and on the right hand side of the page you can see the white pages for our phone directory. You can phone the police and they look for him advise on the latest. Also you can phone the embassies. Also tv stations will put somethink on air if concerned. But far as cyclones there has been no wipe outs. cheers

theres been a lot of flooding which can play havoc with landline phones.Maybe you should have the police put out an alert so he knows of your concern.Depending on where he is travelling 2 weeks is not a great deal of time if he is moving inland. When he does contact you make it clear to him that ha does need to check in regularly as we do have a history of nutters who prey on overseas travellers. But dont panic yet he is probably having to much fun to ring
