I jus bought a 98 dodgre ram ext cab with short bed 4x4 and a brand new crate engine.....but i wann put a flag in the bed but need to know how to make the flag pole stay up....any suggestions.....also any lift ideas.,

well for my friend all we did was take a peice of 1 1/2 abs pipe..
its black plastic pipe that you see plumbers use.. and then i used an 1/ 1/2 pipe clamp and screwed it to the bedliner and then stuck the flag in the pipe and it was good to go

I wouldn't know for certain having never tried, but I would imaging if you were to visit a hardware store you could purchase a flag pole and holder like for a hour. Then you could drill into the bed and mount the fixed holder and pole, which would be sturdy enough to hold up under road conditions (but of course, you do some damage to the bed with the holes being drilled). Probably an aluminum pole would work best, as a wooden one has the potential to snap or give out when weathered. It does have the risk of being stolen.

Put a piece of steel plate in the bed on a rubber bed mat. Weld a piece of pipe to the plate and stick the flagpole into the pipe. If you don't need the flag anymore, just remove the steel plate by picking it up.
