The puppy looks like some sort of german shepard mix. If you really want to keep them, then go for it.
Since they're puppies now...if you keep them they should be fine with your children because they would grow up around them. Even dogs notorious for being "mean dogs" are fine when they are raised by a family.
It's all in how the puppies are treated...not what kind of breed they are.
Good luck...they are adorable!

they look like some sort of german shepherd cross to me. No matter the breed, if they're raised right, and don't have any traumatic occurences with children, they'll do fine with them. The children are also of an age where if they're irritating the dogs, you can tell them to back off, and give them space. Although rescues are good at finding animals homes, i'm sure your puppies will appreciate the fact that you saved their lives. They may even repay you for it one day. Good luck!
*ps- since you should probably take them to a vet anyway, just to make sure tey're healthy, and toget them their shots, the vet can probably tell you what breed they are.

Maybe Bernese Mountain Dog, Rottweiler, Akita and/or Australian Shepherd mixes...hard to tell with pups, though. When they are a year old, re-post pics!
I really don't see any German Shepherd, though - the side view has waaaay too much stop (face dip after the eyes) & very short muzzle - more like a Rott, Berner or Aussie. German Shepherds have very long, convex muzzles - long even as pups. You can see pictures of all these breeds at www.akc.org.
If raised with kids, obedience trained & given firm, fair rules, everything should work out fine.

They are adorable! Looking at the one picture (straight into the face), it's head seems rather wide. I would guess possiblly a cross between a rotti and an akita with maybe some shepherd tossed in there somewhere. Hard to tell. They are thick boned, large paws and like I said a fairly large broad head. I would guess about 12-16 wks.

They look like a shepard mix to me. From the size of those paws, they will be big when they are adults. I don't have experience with that breed, but I do have a pug and dogs like that always try to herd her at the dog park. They are doing their herding job.

They sure do look like they have some German Shepperd in them. Maybe you could take them to the shelter and have more qualified people guess at their lineage? Just a thought......or to a vet? My dog was supposed to be Coonhound/German Shepperd.....but, a Beagle got in there somewhere! lol They sure are cute! aaaahhhhhhhhh!

Those pups are german shepard...It is too bad that someone left them. They are beautiful. If you raise them right they will be great with kids. It is all in how you raise them. And most of the time if they are raised with kids they will protect those kids with their life. German shepards are GREAT!!! keep them...I have 2 of my own and they are the best companions you could ever have.

this dog looks like a cross breed of a rottweiler or australian kelpie and a little something else.if they are moody and agressive, keep them away from the kids. if they are playful, energetic, and happy, let the kids play with them.
