Wouldn't that be a waste of his time, going through the motions and paying lip-service to some kind of due process? Surely his mind was made up about all of us when he created the world?

All thoughts welcome.

First, no one said that judgement day had anything to do with due process--you don't get to stand up and argue your case in front of some "impartial" judge. Second, who says that God already made up God's mind? Be careful when trying to apply too simple earthly ideas of "omniscience" to God, because it just doesn't work to say "oh, God knows everything that will happen, so everything is already fixed." It's more complicated than that.

Because god doesn't exist, and the people who pretend he does are making excuses for living their lives according to a badly-written fairy tale. If they didn't believe in a Judgment Day, they wouldn't have to keep tithing.

He already knows, but you don't. At least this way, no one can complain that God was unfair.

So that we can agree with the judge that our trial is fair and proclaim that He is a just and holy judge.
