I found a hilarious picture of a wedding party in really tacky dresses on-line. I pasted my friends faces over the girls in the picture using Photoshop and then printed the resulting picture on photo paper. I wrote "Will you be my bridesmaid?" on the back of each picture and mailed them to my best friends.

They loved it. Most of them have the pics framed. It's creative and easy to do!

Go to mms.com and order specialty personalized m & ms..I think you can fit appros 8 characters (letters & spaces) on each line with 2 lines per m&m color ordered, the more colors you'd order, the more room you would have...they also have pretty gift boxes that they will gift box them in for you.
OR
Take them out for a nice formal dinner, order a nice bottle of champagne, once all of their glasses are full-raise your glass as if to make a toast and then ask if they would all do you the honor of being in your wedding.
OR
It's Valentines Day soon....you could send flowers w/a handwritten note.

HOWever you decide to do it- do it by person... not in a group. If someone doesn't want to or have the money... they might say No or sorry and it would be terrible to put them under the pressure of being in a group. They might say Yes up front and drop out later if you do it that way.

I would just call or go see each person. You could just do something as simple as bring them their favorite flowers when you ask!!

sing a song?
write a poem?

if you are saying you want to find a special way to ask people to be your bridesmaids

or

if you are asking what can you ask your bridesmaids to do which is different at your wedding try the above

which ever it is - have a great time (my daughter is getting married soon).

How about a personal, hand-written card explaining how much each one means to you. Maybe with a cute little gift, like a "Bridesmaid" t-shirt. Taking them out to eat might be fun too!

It would depend on each individual bridesmaid. I asked two of mine over email/instant messenger - no big deal. I asked a third over email and she felt insulted with the what she called "impersonnal" invitation. I withdrew my invitation to her (there is a longer story but has nothing to do with your question!). Just consider the source and act accordingly.

If you go on brides.com or weddings.com and they have these cute little gifts that you get when you want to invite people to be in your wedding party. It has really cool inexpensive gift to try it they have everything then it looks like you treated them all the same and no one gift is better than the other one.

Go out to dinner and tell her (or them if in a group) how much she's (theye've) meant to you through you and your fiance's relationship and you would like her (them) to be your wedding. You could give them something simple like a bracelet or a necklace (nothing to expensive if you don't want). I'd think that'd be pretty memorable for them.
