Of course, without actually hearing the dog it is extremely hard to diagnose him. However, I work in a vet clinic and I do see this a lot. If your dog is having deep coughs and it sounds like he is going to vomit but he doesn't there is a huge possibility your dog has Kennel Cough...this is an airborne disease that can be caught from simply walking through the same area another dog has that has this problem. It is extremely contagious however, as long as you get medication for it then it is not fatal to your pet. You will however, need to go to a vet where they will give you both an antibiotic and a cough suppresent! Good luck and I hope your dog feels better!

You take your dog for medical attention instead of posting it on Yahoo Answers. Your dog is obviously sick and needs and deserves to see a vet.

He probably just has a cold, but it's best to get him to the vet and get it checked out...It could be a sinus infection that requires antibiotics.
Whatever you do, don't give the dog human cold medication, you could kill it!
