i want to train them, does anyone know how to train puppies?

Look up "Nothing In Life Free" training on the web. You find lots of useful info. Good luck. Enrolling in obedience classes once the pups have had all their shots is a good idea too.

We use a long lead or rope attached to the collar ( commonly referred to around our house as a come-here-string.) Take the pups outside individualy to train and make sure there are as few distractions as possible. Let the pup wander away from you then stoop down and call the pup in a high pitched voice while clapping your hands. If the pup doesn't respond immediately jerk the lead in short fast jerks (never drag the puppy). You can do this while running backwards also. This encourages the puppy to run towards you. Pick up and praise or just pet and praise, praise, praise when the puppy reaches you. Treats are great at this time also.
Now, you seem to have plenty house breaking advice so I'd like to add that smaller breeds have smaller bladders and will usually require more frequent trips outdoors for eliminating. Do remember just because they go on their papers a few times or potty outdoors doesn't mean there won't be mess ups. Very normal...they are babies. An individual pup may not become completely potty trained until he reaches 6 months of age. It takes longer for it 'to click' with some puppies. Although its trying for the owner, when that light bulb goes off and he makes the connection then buddy boy he's got it!!

I know what you are going through, about a year ago we adopted a Beagle/Husky mix from our local animal shelter; he was 3 months old and our first dog as a family, we had only had cats before, As far as pottying goes, what I did was I took him out every half hour, forty-five minutes or so and encouraged him. Figure out what word/phrase you want to use whether it be "pottytime" , "lets go poop and pee outside", etc.and STICK WITH that. It will be a lot easier for him to understand if everyone uses the same word/phrase everytime. When he DOES make potty outside give him LOTS of praise and a treat. If you see him squatting getting ready to go in the house, say "No,No" in a firm voice and take him out asap. If you get there too late and he has already made, take him out anyway so he will catch on. It will take time. We took our puppy to a dog trainer for help with obedience and pottying, etc. And it helped SO much. Our dog has taken a 6 week one lesson a week private course, a 6 week obedience class; and a 6 week agility course. It has helped us bond and him to figure out what I expect out of him and what is NOT acceptable. So a trainer would be my best advice. A lot of times big chain pet stores (PetSmart, etc.) offer classes like that. We live in a small town where the closest store like that is an hour away, and I asked my vet about trainers; he gave me a list and we talked to them all and picked the one who we liked and whose methods we agreed with Hope I could help and good luck. PS No matter how many or what kind of class you and your puppies do, it WILL NOT HELP if you do not work with them at home.

When you start training, remember, puppies have a very short memory. You shoulnd't punish them for something they did 2 hours ago. Start off with the basics, house training. They have these enclosed cages you can use for that, their small, easy to assemble and take down. Get some puppy pads. This will train them to go on paper only. Once you get that down, then start with training them to go outside. Give them a treat when they go outside and do their business and come back in. Compliment them and make a big deal about it. It takes a little time and you'll have to work with them, but they'll eventually get the point. Do not rub their nose in it if they have an accident. I would recommend keeping them in their cage during the night and when you have to leave the house at least until you get them trained.

Go to your local petsmart and meet with a teacher from their obedience classes. They're very kind about free information and can probably help you a lot. They can also offer suggestions of books that will do you a lot of good. Kiss the pups for me and take them for checkups often.

okaaaay. well to start its going to have to be one on one thier just kids and they will let anything lead them astray, and always use the same setting that way thier not investigating thier environment continously, then be consistent and firm these little guys can only retain about a couple things at a time and you may have to refresh daily but always praise good behavior, best with lots of love and little treats.

The best place to go is puppy training classes that are held locally, good for the puppy and good for you.
Try your local pet shop, they should know where the local classes are held.
Good Luck,
