There are cruise ship tours from the US to Asia, but most make very quick stops at Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, rather than just going to China. They are VERY expensive. You might consider a cargo ship; most have very nice accomodations, you eat with the Captain, very quiet, VCR/DVD for movies, etc. The drawbacks are: no floorshows, few other passengers (typically, 6 - 8), may have to walk on deck around cargo containers, etc. The cost is generally about the same as Business Class on an airline. The biggest drawback, over flying, is the time element - typically a week from the West Coast to China even for a direct voyage. A friend of mine (retired) travels all over the world this way, and loves it (reads books on the long trip).

There are passenger ships, but they are VERY expensive and will probably stop in a lot of other locations as well. It will take you forever to get there and you will have to pay for food, etc.

a slow boat to china
On A Slow Boat To China
By: Frank Loesser
1948
To Spike Jones and the City Slickers and Darlene Vare
-- Spoken:
"And now from the Grand Ballroom"
"The S.S. ???? proudly presents our boy singer: Jimmy Boofey"
"Take it away Jim"
I'd love to get you
On a slow boat to China
All to myself alone
Get you and keep you
In my arms ever more
Leave all your lovers
Weepin' on a far away shore (waiter!)
Out on the briny
With the moon big and shiny
Melting your heart of stone
Honey I'd love to get you
On a slow boat to China
All by myself alone
-- Spoken:
"Who's steering the boat?"
"Who's steering this boat?"
"Waiter!"
"May I get a drink around here, now uh...?"
"You ever been on a cruise?"
"Neither have I!"
(instrumental)
"...isn't that a good one?"
"Yes, can I see you later, You bet!"
"Excuse me, I have to go back to the bandstand now"
I'd love to get you
On a slow boat to China
All to myself alone
A twist in the rudder
And a rip in the sails
Driftin' and dreamin'
Honey throw the compass over the rail
Out on the ocean
Far from all the commotion
Melting your heart of stone
Honey I'd love to get you
On a slow boat to China
All by myself alone
(I have to go now)
(Wait! Don't leave!)
Honey I'd love to get you
On a slow boat to China
All to myself alone
-- Spoken:
"You know our last set is at two"
"I get off after that"
"What you doin'?"
"Would you like to take a stroll around the upper deck?"
"See you then"
"Maybe, oo-hoo"
