My husband and I just got married last year. We don't own our own house yet and have no kids. Would it be smarter for us to file jointley or seperatley? Which way would get us more money or doesn't it matter?

It depends on your overall tax situation.

Generally speaking, Married Filing Jointly will give you the greater tax benefits, but there may be extenuating circumstances where you would want to file separately.

You will almost surely pay less taxes by filing a joint return than you would be filing as married filing separately. Depending on your incomes, it might be real close, just a couple dollars, or might be quite a bit.
