I'm pretty sure my ex just chose something real quick and easy to give to me. I told him its not fair that he didn't put any thought into my gift and just offed me a $40 gift card. I bought him a Coogi outfit. My feelings are hurt and its just not fair. I would have accepted anything from the heart...but some old gift card?!?!?!

He didn't pick that up until I told him I got him something.

Some people on here are such idiots!! I'm not a gold digger or selfish. My ex asked me out...we broke up b/c of lack of effort and lack of spontaneity...this directly correlates to the valentine's issue...but we went out and we had fun so oh well. I'd like to give a huge middle finger to all the one track minded answerers...thanks for ur ignorance.

Huh, he is lame. That's too bad. He's not really ready to make it work out. But if you just want to sleep with him, then it doesn't matter. Go out and have a good night.

Well, other than that, is he a good guy? Is he a good boyfriend to you? If so, I wouldn't make too big a deal out of it. Guys for the most part aren't really complicated, and they don't think that a gift card is a thoughtless gift. Look at the whole picture. Is it worth possibly wrecking a good relationship over something silly? If he's worth it, then give him a break. If he's a dolt most of the time, and this is just another example, then cancel the dinner if you're not happy.

alot of people no longer celebrate vday bc it's become such a 'retail holiday' and you're the perfect example of why! Valentines should be about appreciating the one you love, not expensive gifts. So if you cancelled dinner bc you didn't like your gift, then I would say you are a shallow person. love don't cost a thang.

A $40 gift card and I'll just assume that he's paying for the date on top of that....a really good gift. I think you are the one that isn't being fair.

Yea, maybe he DID just pick it up quickly, but he WAS thinking of you. And maybe the dinner is his real gift. A nice dinner is a great gift.
But did you say this is your "ex"? If it is, why does it matter so much?

why do you have to be so shallow... maybe he got you that because he wasn't sure if you would like what he got you... you shouldn't be like that... if you really care for him it's not the present, it's the thought... perhaps you need to grow up... it sounds like you bought his gift with the intentions of either getting something really good or for the props...

it shouldn't matter how much the gift is .....it's the thought that counts....he didn't have to get u anything at least he was thinking about u.......u should not let valentines day get in the way of your relationship...it's not that serious it's just one day.

Baby how do you know what he could afford or not, I think that you are very wrong, its not too late, it should be the thoughts not the gift itself that counts.

It doesn't really matter...
It's the thought that counts. It shows that he cares for you. At least he didn't FORGET your Valentine's Day gift! Wouldn't that be worse?!?!! People don't know what they have until they lose it.......
