We hear stories everyday of people looking for their birthparents. Should all adoptions be open AND should the records be kept with ONE agency and available to the children when the time comes?

I'm involved in an open adoption as I type, my daughter's adoption will final in 2 weeks, it has been a long journey for me to become a mother. I think it is up to the parents involved to decide the openness of the adoption. I think at some point and time though adopted children should have access to their medical history.

There are open Adoptions
If up to the birth parents and adopted parents what they want
My brother adopted his daughter through open adoptions. They have all the information they need to give to their child when they believe the time is right

No, not all adoptions should be open. Reasons behind adoptions differ and if a child were to come around it could rekindle the past. Think of cases of rape for an example.

Open can mean birth parent's want to be part of the child's life. Some couple's may not be able to handle that. I think it should be up to the two parties involved but believe that the children should never be denied access when it comes to knowing who their birth parent's are.
