I am getting a new set of irons.

I went to my local Golfsmith for two straight days to try everything out. I narrowed my choice to the new Taylormade r7 irons, and the new Cobra FP irons (both standard mens, 28 flat w/stock graphite shafts.

The r7's are really nice looking and have a great address position.

The Cobra's are nice, but don't look as good.

They are both considered game-improvement clubs, but the r7 is definately a little smaller and less forgiving.

The r7's have a buttery, soft feel when hit put. The Cobra's are also really soft but not as much as the r7's.

I like the Cobra's alignment aid with the ball shaped thing on the face to set up to the ball perfectly.

Since I've only been playing a little less than a year, the guy at Golfsmith said the r7's would be better because I am going to keep improving.

So guys, which ones should I choose?

Oh yeah, the r7's are $800 and the Cobra's $600.

Hey What's up "K' , well you know me I am a die hard Titleist guy I would use nothing else until I found something that felt better to me , And so that's my point don't go by what people tell you on Yahoo Answers , go with your gut , go with what feels good to you remember you have to be comfortable with your irons not us ! I hope that helped , and remember " Keep'em in the Fairway " !

See Ya !

Get RACs instead.
But if you dont, go with the r7's. They will be more forgiving for you even with the smaller face. Also why do you want graphite? Steel shafts are much better for irons, epecially if you are young. Your elbows dont have the wear and tear of a 50 year old man. You'll get more pop out of them and you will pay a bit less for a better product for a young golfer. If you are looking to continue improveing get a smaller head with a steel shaft. If you want to stay at about the level you are now go for graphite and the larger club face.

I have the Taylormade R7 Irons. I hit many balls at Golf smith with many different clubs and just loved everything about the Taylormades. The design is awesome. The feel is awesome. everything. I had them fit at -1* and was launching the 6 iron on nail!

Get the Cobras. They'll help you develop a "mood" that you will develop into....

That's the same thing on my Tommy Armors, even though I'm a lefty (Probably not even close to as good as the real Lefty, also, but I'm pretty good), and it helped me gain more yardage because I developed into a habit that helped me with my swing. Trust me on this one....

Plus, the Cobras are cheaper if you want to look at it from that standpoint....

If you are steadily improving and you can hit the ball solidly, then forget graphite shafts as there is a time lag between hands and impact. With reg to stiff steel this is eliminated, and you can get away with hitting the ball harder.

And, why is it that those who are realists are getting dissed on this question?

Your talking big man!!!!!!!!!!
you should definitely get the Talyormade
since I have the same set( inverted cone technology)
address is most important in iron hitting, and speed is most important in putting
Remember this !!!!!!!

PS:IM freshman too.. So far im shooting in 10 handy
lol

sounds like you made up your own mind on the taylormade, although cobra also makes an excellent club.

id say which ever one feels better to you. it doesnt really matter what anybody thinks because your going to be the one using them. which ever one you feel more confident over the ball and you hit better is the one you should get.
