I am trying to buy new wheels for my 99 dodge ram 1500. Right now I have 31x10.5r15 tires but don't know what size wheel I have. I found a wheel that is 15 inch 5 by 5.5 and was wondering if that would work

My tire book says 15x8.5 for a 31x10.50R15. If you use a narrower rim the bead of the tire will not seat squarely with the wheel and you may not be able to inflate it. Ditto for one that is too wide. The bead will spread so far it will not seal.

It's a 15" rim the width is a better question for the guys at the tire/wheel shop

For that size tire I would go with these:
15x8 for a narrower tall look OR
15x10 for a wider yet still tall enough look.
Alloy rims are lighter an look good, unless you plan on wheeling.
If that's the case go for steel rims.

it should say on the tire. Go to a tire shop and have them look for you. 15" seems kind of small for a truck to me..

Mine says P225/60 R17
So the rims are 17 inches.
It would be listed right after the name on the tire.

i would go with the 15x8 that should look good. The 15x5 is going to be way too skinny it will look really bad.
