Hi,

There are two conventional ways to start a Command prompt.

1. Start, Programs, Accessories, Command prompt
2. Start, Run and type "cmd" (minus quotes) and press enter.

try the small command given in the following links..:-)

A command prompt allows you to type computer commands at the DOS operating system without using menus. To get to a command prompt you click START, then RUN, and type CMD and press return. You will be presented with a DOS window. Type the command help and press return. All the DOS commands will be displayed. If you want more detail about a particular command, at the DOS prompt enter the command followed by /? and press return.

I hope this helps.

The command prompt is for entering commands. it was the only interface you had back in the day and theres alot that you can do but it;s not much use to a novice.

heres some commands though
DIR - Lists file directory information.
MEM -shows memory information...

To get to the command prompt, go to the Start menu, select Run and type "cmd" (without the quotes). As to what you can do, there's a list at http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/cmd.mspx?mfr=true
