An old remedy for earache was to put some warm olive oil in your ear.

Sorry to hear about ur ear complaint, firstly ur doctor is wrong saying antibiotics wont help you, if u have an infection this will help. I would go back to him and ask for a letter of referrel saying you are not completely happy with his findings. pls dont feel u havent the right to do this. Doctors are human like u and me just read a few more books and taken an exam u shouldnt have to suffer weeks of pain. Earache is very common there are several causes and these include. Middle ear pressure problem. Middle ear infection (otitis media) external ear infection, any ear infection is an alteration in the pressure equalizing mechanism Plese go back to your doctor and insist something be done even if that means going to the ENT. I sincerely wish u luck get well soon.

I get earaches often especially when I get water in my ears. My doctor generally percribes a decongestant before perscribing antibiodics because that usually does the trick. Try Actifed or Sutifed over the counter. (Get the one with pseudephederine; that you have to get from behind the pharmacy counter) its better than the ones that are still on the shelf. You will have to show your drivers license but its not that bad of a hassel. Take them for 5 days as directed and your ear shoud feel better. If not call your dr.

I get bad ears - they get blocked up with wax which can be very painful. My GP recommended that you put warm (not hot) olive oil or almond oil (both available at supermarkets) and pour a little in your ear - lie down on your side for 10 minutes. This softens any wax and soothes your ear. It is best to avoid antibiotics if you can.

warm up some olive oil and put a couple of drops into the ear, then put some cotton wool into the ear to prevent the oil from spilling out. Lie on you side with you poorly ear facing upwards. It is very soothing, but take care not to get the oil too hot.

Try a little warm Olive oil, use it like Drops, if that dose not work maybe you need to see a Dr that gives antibiotics, or a ear, nose, throat dr, ones hearing is very sensitive take care of it.

finely chop a large onion and put it inside a clean sock, give the sock a bash with a rolling pin or similar then keep the sock pressed against the effected area for as long as possible, believe me it works great. Do not use for tooth ache as it has opposite effects

That's a crock of s**t. You have to demand antibiotics for an ear infection. Your GP is lying to you. Cheap skate.

If it's still sore after such a long time, go back to your GP and say that it isn't getting any better, so please could (s)he gave a another look.
For short term relief, try putting a hot water bottle on there.
