Maybe you are on public transport or something and you see someone who is horribly disfigured or disabled in some way and you wish that you could just magically ( miraculously?) touch them and they'd be cured. Are these shameful thoughts to have, or do they reveal a deep belief in Christianity, given that Jesus could allegedly do this?

I am just wondering how widespread this secret wish is. Do we all wish it ?

no friend these are not shameful thoughts to have, in fact they show that you are only human. In spiritualism, we are told to send our healing thoughts out to those who may need them; however with disfigurements, obviously there is no miraculous healing touch that can cure them. Beauty is only skin deep, believe me this is true, you could meet the most beautiful person in the world, only to discover that person on the inside is completely and utterly self absorbed, arrogant etc. I do however believe in spiritual healing, where illness and injury are concerned. kafx

Any empathetic person has probaby wished they could releave the suffering of another person. Wouldn't that be wonderful if we could do that? I don't think it's shameful at all. I think it's a sign of a desire to help. What a beautiful thing to have.

I think there are many things we do no understand about how the mind works and how powerful it can be over matter/ the body. Perhaps Jesus through his strong faith understood this and is an example of what we all can become. Afterall we are supposed to try to follow Him and be as like him as possible, right?

Maybe it's because I'm shallow or just lead a sheltered life, but every time I see a teenager or young adult ravaged with really bad acne scars or someone with any kind of scarring or disfigurement, I wish I could touch them and heal them and let the underlying beauty show through. I can't imagine there could possibly be anything shameful in wanting to have that ability.

Of course this would be a great power to have. However, if it was known to the public that you posses this power, literally, millions of people would flock to you wanting to be healed and clearly that could be very overwhlmeing, it might even make you unhappy, as you would not be able to live your own life becuase you would be bombared with people trying to get to you for help.

However, if your power is on the down-low, then it would be much cooler. You could heal people with your touch and hopefully they would not figure out that it was you. Then you would be able to remain humble. You could experiance the benefit of your power with out all the attention and truly be happy that these people are now healed.

Your thoughts are not shameful, but I do not think they reveal a deep belief in Christ either. I think that you would simply like to see less suffering in the world.

However, if you desire for everyone to know you have this power...then you just want attention. But if you want to remain anonymous then you are a good person with a good heart.

Awww, yes. To be able to cure someone of their constant, painful, rhuematoid arthritis, or debilitating disease..would be wonderful. To know that you could change hurtful happenings in lives, where you could see the pain of something would be gracious. I don't think of this as shameful, I DO think that to totally believe in your faith, to have the inference of things that could happen...is to have the real belief that Jesus did exist and we are carrying on his prophecy by knowing that there are real people out there, that need to be sought after, for divinity. For cure...for love. Good question...

I'm an atheist, and I think that all the time when I see sick children.

This has nothing whatsoever to do with Christianity, or any god for that matter. It's called being human and having compassion. You don't need belief in a deity to feel that.

As a Christian myself, I really don't think that these are shameful thoughts. In fact, I believe that it's perfectly natural to wonder about this. I do believe that Jesus could do this, and even though we can't do this ourselves, miracles can still happen...

If I could do that, no one in the world would suffer from anything any longer than it would take me to get to them.

And it has nothing to do with religion or Jesus, since I am an atheist. I just have empathy for others.

Absolutely. Buddha was said to heal by touch or proximity. This desire to heal is indicative of compassion, not necessarily a manifestation of a religion.
