basically we don't have a choice. the parents decide to have it done when the baby is born.

It is cleaner and healthier. Some New Age types have gone back to the old way.
Twenty years ago I knew two guys. This was in Navy boot camp. One was from Tennessee and the other was from Kentucky. Neither had been circumcised, both had some kind of infection and had to use a swab to administer the antibiotic. As I remember, neither enjoyed doing it because the stuff stung, and they had to do it in front of the company commander to be sure they did it. I was really, really happy to have been snipped at birth.

in addition to religous reasons in general it is said to be more clean. The skin flap can lead to bacteria and infections if the guy isnt very clean.
