If you're looking to work with animals, go where they are. Perhaps one of these places might have a volunteer or apprentice program ...

SHERWOOD ANIMAL CONTROL DEPT 501-834-2287
6500 N Hills Blvd
Sherwood, AR 72116

FOSTER ANIMAL HOSPITAL 501-758-1220
3716 John F Kennedy Blvd
Sherwood, AR 72116

LITTLE ROCK ZOO 501-666-2406
1 Jonesboro Dr
Little Rock, AR 72205
(there are some farms and ranches about as far away as this zoo, but zoos are more likely to have volunteer programs)

You might also want to contact your Chamber of Commerce in your city. You might want to get involved with Senior Citizens in your area:

Also, if you are super serious about working with animals, you might want to contact the veterinarians in your area:
http://www.ci.sherwood.ar.us/Living/Veterinarians.htm

They can let you know what is available and perhaps they might be looking for part time work caring for the animals!! It's good to volunteer and work for free, but it's even better to have fun and work for $$ too!

Good luck to you and you are to be commended on wanting to help others!
