Is there certain things that will show the court that you do not deserve a felony conviction or to help eleviate sentencing costs and requirements when found guilty on possession of meth paraphenilia in oregon. What can I do to show responsibility and acceptance of guilt when I have no funding available for treatment.

To help get a lighter sentence the only thing that you can do is tell them everything that you know, in other words sing like a canary. When you are asked to cooperate that is the time to tell them all that you know, other wise you are at the mercy of the court. And by then it is pretty much too late for any mercy, since the Judges have to go off of mandatory guide lines. Not cute or pretty to say the least.

When they ask you to cooperate and tell them the the who's what' and where's it is the only way to get a lighter sentence. In other words you are in fact giving up other people involved in it. Is there a price to pay, yes either way.

If you don't give them the information then you will get a longer sentence. If you do give up information on other people and the drugs then the other inmates will say that you ratted them out and you will need to watch your back.

It is an ugly situation no matter which way you look at it. Judges hands are tied by the mandatory sentencing guide line laws and they do not have the discretion to go easier on you with out some kind of deal being made before hand.

There is free programs That will go to court with you and ask the judge for a sentence at thier program. Depending on how much you had and prior offenses you might be able to get reffered to drug court which is like real strict probation. You can get information on what the judge is most likely going to do from a public defender. If its your first offense and your sincere the da will work with you. Unless there is mandatory sentencing there If you do the work to show that you dont plan on doing this again Any judge will see that. Judges are very smart people and are not just punishers. If you honestly deserve a chance and you present yourself respectively You should be able to put this all behind you. The salvation army will take you and send someone to court with you and there is no judge in the world that will say no. Ive seen it a million times. The salvation army is 100% free and you actually get paid for being there. Good luck

There are places you can get treatment for no or low cost, and they are state funded. If you check yourself into one and are actively trying to get help, it will go a long way at sentencing. An attitude of remorse for what you have done helps also.
For someone who really wants help, it is out there. You just have to make a sincere effort. Call the Social Services office in your city, and check in the phone book for crisis lines who can refer you for help. Good luck, you're going to need it
