this is a prequel to one of a member's question here which went answered not quite to the point.

If there is no science TO the Bible then is there science IN the bible? note the difference.
Is there anything in the bible that could be proven by science and vice versa by religion in contrary to the Koran which is studied and still studied around the world by philosophers and scientists alike, has answered science's most puzzling questions.

many ppl believe that science and religion are of opposite poles, but what if God created science to support religion in the modern world since faith in the modern world is and has always being tested. science is not the new religion. it a way, GOD created to see truths because He created everything for a reason?

Sure, but only with respect to level of understanding people back then had of the world. We've come much much farther since then. The Bible is full of rehashed myths that were popular at the time. Myths were previous people's attempts at coming up with explanations of the evidence they had back then. In that sense, it is scientific for that time. Though, the scientific method, itself, has also been much refined since that time.

I wouldn't rely on the Bible for scientific value any more than I would rely on a witch doctor to perform surgery on me.

Let me put it this way, there is science in the Bible, there has been scientific proof extracted from the Bible that has been able to be used throughout time, as an example star alignments, astronomy, not astrology which is a fake, has been found to be very accurate in the Bible, geographical areas, some have been found others have not. The Bible does not condone science as much as science condones the Bible.
There are some scientific errancies in that we know lot more now then the people who wrote the Bible knew back then, but that does not make the Salvation Story of the Bible any less true.
The Truth of the Bible is not what can or cannot be disproved the truth lies in the Salvation of God's people, be if Jewish, Koran or Christian.
God bless and continue to search for God's truth.

good question. as a matter of fact I'm in the process of writing a book that connects the Bible and science well actually it's about the Dinosaurs and the Bible. such as why weren't they mentioned? how old really is the earth? I'm studying to be a Paleontologist. Science at its best, is an attempt to read the book of nature. the Bible doesn't say whether thousands or millions of years are hidden between the lines of these scriptures, but I do believe that we are millions of years old, getting the research for this project has really been a challenge and yet controversial. I do remember that I did ask this question a little while back and I really didn't get the answers I wanted or I ended up getting moronic answers. But I am wondering if God did create science? because I know that God created the dinosaurs and killed them off for a reason, I have many theories that I came up with which I believe go side by side with the Bible, especially during the "void" and the beginning of man.

Ok I did not see the previous post so I am not sure about that. One of the pastors in my church say something that I think might answer your question. He says "The bible is not a science textbook or journal. It has science just like it has history. And everywhere science is discussed in the bible it is acurate."

The problem with this comes from the fact that science has not caught up with the bible in many ways and evolution is being taught so prevelantly in the schools. There is scientific research that supports the bible. That supports a 6000 year earth and a great worldwide flood. But, the majority of society still clings to evolution and billions of years. I am in a creation apologetics class at my church and I have to tell you some of it is over my head, but it is interesting to me when these scientists open a common biology book being used in public schools around the country and show that there are things in that book being taught as fact that even secular evolutionary scientists say has not been proven or observed.

I don' think science is the opposite of religion or the negative proof against it, but I do think there are a lot of people determined to use it that way. And it is hard for me to imagine them using it as a basis for explaining science's most puzzling questions. I do think that eventually more and more proof will be revealed through a scientific look at the bible and some will be swayed, but not all.

You have to think about the idea that throughout the bible God has revealed himself in many concrete ways and still there were those who looked right at the proof and said it didn't exist.

Hope this answer is what you were looking for.

I just have to answer this one, because it allows me to divulge a concept I came up with a few years ago which has served me in more ways than you can imagine. Man seems to have an inherent need to worship. This can easily be upheld by the simple fact that though man has infinite variations, denominations, rituals, and devotions all regarding the relationship between the mortal and the immortal world, and often incorporating supernatural/superhuman events as a part of their dogma, there has never been a society or culture which developed a universally held atheistic point of view. Therefore, I personally believe that having a belief structure is as desirous to the human experience as food, shelter, sex, and even drug use (another thing that has never been excluded from any society/culture. That's right, man equally shows an inherent need to alter his conscience through the introduction of intoxicants.) What is NOT as important is this fiction that it needs to be not only accepted by his contemporaries, but believed by them, and if required forced upon them. To find spiritual contentment, one must establish their own beliefs without consideration for anything but their relationship with the immortal. It becomes a very personal thing then, and you are much less likely to be appalled by the beliefs of others, or feel so inclined to act intolerantly towards them. If you are strong in your beliefs, what are you so worried about?

To ask a question. Can your "science" disprove what the Bible says. People are being taught that Darwin's THEORY is fact when it is just a THEORY. or the Big Bang THEORY vs. the Creationist THEORY. When we look at "science" we must seperate our own pre-existing ideas. If you dont want to believe in God then you wont believe in God. Some People believe in God and totally distrust science. Neither is healthy to continuing into human knowledge. I beleive that you can believe in God and the Bible and believe in what is truly discovered in science. Nothing ever has proven the Bible wrong. If it had happened I think you would have heard about it.

I've read about some of the science in the Koran. From what I've observed and studied, most of it (in the Koran) was known to mankind before it was 'revealed' to Mo. The backward tribes of Arabia may not have known much about science, but there were civilized, educated people in 600a.d. who knew the earth was round and how babies were made.
Mecca was a city on a major trade route and people from many countries passed thru there. That is how Mo obtained his superior knowledge of the world.

I think science and religion can and should walk hand in hand. There are a lot of scientists that are Christians and learning more and more about our world just intensifies their belief and trust in God. I think God gave us a lot to do. He is like the ultimate parent and being a great parent He gives us toys to play with. He gives us things to discover, things to create and wonders to explore. The more we learn, the more we understand what God has given us and how complex things really are. There is a lot we will never understand, but it gives us something to do until God reveals how it all exactly works.

The Bible per se, just like the Quran are "holy" books that not teach us what to do or how to act but they are merely acts or actions by people who are deemed religiously important. And by these acts or actions we are encouraged or made known to learn by these examples. In ways they are similar in a way that they show actions by important people and we are suppsoed to follow by example. But I digress.

To the question posted, overlaps exist both in religion, in this case, Christianity, and in Science. They compliment each other and explain phenomenons brought up by both sides of the gate. We should not looka t them as two opposing matters but two circles that overlap each other a bit. They bohth have different views but there is an area of gray where both coincide. The Darwin theory against the Big Bang theory is one of the most heated arguements the planet has ever seen. Each has it's own view yet you need the counterpart to explain certain intricacies.

They do not have to clash. Taking, anological wise, a Scientist who is a devout Christian. Or a Christian boy who wasnt to take up Science as his major. They do not have to be separate entities altogether, but to be aplied hand in hand

It is difficult to connect the bible to science, primarily because science was not as highly developed as it is today...so we won't see molecular biology examples in the bible...

With that being said, in my opinion I believe that the bible is was and still IS more of a guide for people - it was created to simple folks from back in the day Israel how to live - how to be good to one another - how to be good to your family, neighbors, other living beings - appreciate and worship God...

I hope that made sense LOL
