Jamaica gained its independence in 1962 on August the 6th under the leadership of Alexander Bustamante,whom is now recognized as one of the 7, national hero's.(he also fought for the rights of the workers in the labour industry of any miss hap).
He was also the first prime minister of the newly independent country,in the Jamaica labour party.
