The website you're referring to talks about the "Crown And Glory" Method. I did this method a few summers ago and I got amazing results. The woman who made this site seemed to have a lesser version of afro textured hair, so maybe you should check out the forum board on longhaircareforum.com. But to make this a short answer, the basics are as follows:
Protective styles: when you're growing your hair out you shouldn't mess with it every ten seconds because it's probably not healthy yet and messing with it/letting it rub against your clothes is a BAD idea. Keep your hair off your shoulders and out of your mind!
Keep it moisturized: Don't go over board, but make sure you take care of it. Don't jump on every little tip they have on the forums because all might not work on your hair (i Know this from experience! :)
MOST IMPORTANT: Make sure you are patient and don't expect CRAZY miracles to happen. On average the hair grows about 6 inches a year. Yes, you can help speed the process up, but not by much. Just keep on your hair care regimine and you'll see healthy, long hair before you know it! GOOD LUCK missy!

My grandma has waist length hair. But she presses it, she has a weird grade of hair... its between fro and wavy... Whoppi Goldberg had really long hair.... our hair grows but most of us don't know how to take care of it. I have bra strap length hair, two years ago it was mid-back length, I cut it all off about a year ago because of a bad perm, I'm hoping by September this year it will reach the middle of my back again.

It is a myth that afro textured hair "can't" grow. Too many black people abuse their hair with chemicals and too much heat, which causes it to dry out and break off. Most black women who wear natural hairstyles have hair that grows very fast. Condition, moisturize, wear protective hairstyles (i.e. up-do's), minimize heat styling (curling irons and blowdryers), and don't overprocess. And don't forget to take your vitamins.

that's generally concept that they used semen from the male to hold their hair in place. yet another theory is they excreted "da poo poo" into eachothers hair with the intention to hold it up.
