I don't know where you live, but in Madison WI, there is a place here that is Chuck E. Cheese. It is designed with kids in mind. You go in and order pizza and drinks for all and are given some tokens to go out and play the games in the front of the store lobby. They give out tickets when you get certain amounts of points ant kids can take their tickets to the counter and prizes for them.

Another idea is to have a picnic party at the zoo. You and the kids can eat and then go look at all the animals. You inform each child's parent of a dollar amount that each one is to bring with them to the zoo to spend at the souvenir shop. Lots of kids like that. They get to choose and mommy and daddy aren't the ones making the decision this time. Just remember each child should bring their money in an envelope so it can be kept separate.

Don't fall into the birthday trap! Too many parents go nuts trying to throw these elaborate parties for their kids, then wonder why later the kids don't appreciate anything. Your child is only four. She and her friends are going to be happy with just about anything so long as they have room to run around. If you live somewhere with nice weather this time of year, why not just go to a local park for a cook-out? Or if its cold where you are, there are places like Chucky Cheese's that have places for the kids to run and play. Keep it simple, because years from now your daughter won't remember if you rented a big hall or took her to the local playground. But she will remember having fun!

Even though most kids are happy with any type of party, one with a theme always helps out. When my daughter was 4, we had her birthday party at Build-A-Bear. It was nice because you can keep a spending limit yourself and anything over that can be covered by the other children's parents.

One thing too, I had alot of the parent buying stuff for themselves there, so Build-A-Bear was extremely happy that day.

I would look into local halls for hire. When my daughter was 5 I hired the local school hall that came complete with a bouncy castle!
