energy value: best is natural gas
short and long term availability: US-Coal; is about 250-400 years.
Crude oil; (US only) less than 12 years. Natural gas can be made sustainable through landfill extraction and biogas generation.
storage: unsure
cost: (US only) Add about five dollars to every gallon you purchase, this cost reflects social extranalities and corporate welfare (prior to the 8 billion give away by Republican rule)
Pollution: Natural gas is the least pollutive, burning gas in a combustion engine is just waist-full, Coal is why you hear about micro pollution (mercury etc)
ease of use? I suppose you mean infrastructure is petroleum based.
