My hair was blonde before I ever started dying it red. I haven't dyed it in about 4 months, and my roots are pretty dark. (I knew my hair would turn brown as I got older, my mom and my sisters did the same) I am contemplating going back to a dark blonde/light brown but not sure if I should attempt this myself. Any thoughts?

I would have it done professionally because going from red to blonde is kind of hard pulling off with the department store hair dyes. There is a big chance that if you use a department store dye it will turn more orange than blonde.

I have been dyeing my hair red for years and when I went to get my hair dyed back to my natural color (light brown), they said that red is extremely hard to get out completely and they have to strip it first. I would advise you to get it done professionaly cause you will still have those red tints if you do it yourself, I always did!

This should be done at a reputable salon, not at home. If you were just putting color over your natural one it might be doable at home, but since you're attempting to lighten or change hair that has been colored I would have it done by a professional.

If you want to match the roots have it done by a pro. If you just want a shade of blond you can do it yourself.
