Many people criticize Islam without knowing a single thing about it. They spread false information. Can someone please explain to me why someone would be as low to do something this stupid?

It must be human nature.
This happens to Christianity and all other religions.
Not only religions but also in the sciences as well.

I won't defend the U.S. occupation of Iraq or Afghanistan but you're wrong about Islam. When a person shouts "Allahu Akbar" while blowing himself to atoms in a crowded market or committing mass murder of innocent bystanders with firearms or flying jets into buildings etc it's great nonsense to say it doesn't have anything to do with Islam. It's rubbish. These things are acts of Muslim worship. Perhaps not your flavor of Islam but it's Islam nevertheless.

I did not criticize it until I learned more about it. I did not actually know that the Koran literally condones killing in the name of Islam. I thought this was just a perversion on the part of Muslim extremists. But actually it's just a literal interpretation.
I have nothing against peaceful Muslims (who I believe are the majority), but the literal interpreation of the Koran warrants some very scary things (jihads and such). I can't agree with anyone who takes these things so literally.

It is called judging. People are just scared of the unknown and are willing to take what they and hear and read as the trust. A few bad apples spoil the whole bunch. Personal, I ask a Muslim about their belief before I made up my mind. Thur out history this has happened. The Mormon where judged before people found out what they believe same with Wicca. Some people are just too closed minded to think that anyone different from them is a good person.

It's ridiculous. They should study Islam and then criticize it. There are many things to criticize it for that are found in the Koran. Do they really think the sun sets into water? Also they could learn the history of it, how it spread by threatening people into submission. But a lot of Muslims just do this when they argue, dismissing anything negative as "false information". Poor mislead people.

No; we criticize Islam AFTER knowing EXACTLY what it says in the Quran;
Muslims (and Islam) say Jesus was a prophet but they reject all His teachings ....that is hypocrisy.
They reject Christ's diety;
they deny his claim to be the Son of God;
they deny his death on the cross...
they deny His resurrection..
They deny Jesus is the Christ/ Messiah...
Need I say more...?
Don't be deceived. The Islamic god is totally different than the God of Jesus Christ.
The Bible calls Muhammed and those like him false prophets:
"Who is a liar but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is anti-Christ, that denies the Father and the Son. He that denies the Son, the same has not the Father." (I John 2:22)

What you are saying is very typical you assume poeple are ignorant of Islam. People's criticism of islam is not only based on the acts of terrorism because of the objectionable things the Quran teaches:
Death for apostasy (Leaving Islam):
Sura 4:89: They long that ye should disbelieve even as they disbelieve, that ye may be upon a level (with them). So choose not friends from them till they forsake their homes in the way of Allah; if they turn back (to enmity) then take them and kill them wherever ye find them, and choose no friend nor helper from among them,”
Kill Disbelievers in a cruel fashion:
Sura 5:33: "Those who make war with Allah and his messenger will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. That is how they will be treated in this world, and in the next they will have an awful doom."
Slit throats of unbelievers:
Sura 47:4: Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah's Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their deeds be lost.
Amputation for petty theft:
Sura 5:38: Cut off the hands of thieves, whether they are male or female, as punishment for what they have done—a deterrent from God: God is almighty and wise.
Killing unbelievers:
Sura 9:123. O ye who believe! fight the unbelievers who gird you about, and let them find firmness in you: and know that Allah is with those who fear Him.
Dont be friends with Jews or Christians:
Sura 5:51: O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for your allies and protectors: They are but allies and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.
Sex slaves are permitted:
Sura 4:24 Also (prohibited are) women already married, except those whom your right hands possess.
Kill disbelievers:
Sura 2:191. And slay them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have Turned you out; for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, slay them. Such is the reward of those who suppress faith.
Permission for a muslim man to beat his wife if she doesnt obey him:
Sura 4:34: Men are the maintainers of women because Allah has made some of them to excel others and because they spend out of their property; the good women are therefore obedient, guarding the unseen as Allah has guarded; and (as to) those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in their sleeping places and **beat them**; then if they obey you, do not seek a way against them; surely Allah is High, Great.
Fight disbelievers:
Sura 9:29: Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

Ignorance and fear. People only know what their ignorant pastor tells them or what they've read in an inaccurate anti-Islamic pamphlet. Also, they see a small minority of fanatics on television who commit acts of terrorism.
If we had television hundreds of years ago, we would see even worse atrocities being committed by Christians? Does that mean that Christianity is evil? NO. Neither is Islam evil.
People should really investigate Islam and the Qur'an before judging it.
