The best way to break up is when your doing the dumping and not getting dumped, as jokes aside the best way to brak up is face to face and not chickening out by doing it over the phone or in email or any other pussie thing like that, be a man have some bolas!

you gotta face it head on. never breakup using a text message, on the phone, or IM. I haven't really dealt with this, but i might suggest you take your person to a restaurant, not too expensive because you are trying to break up, not increase the relation. after you have eaten, slowly break the news. don't blame it on the person you were dating, but kidna say that you weren't ready for that relationship, maybe you two moved too fast, or whatever. the main thing is to do is lay it down slowly, say what was wrong with the relationship, and assure that you two could still be friends
