Its a straight 6 - Jeep doesn't make a V6 for the Wrangler.
Depends on lots of things...was the engine maintained well? What is the selling price? If you want it for off-roading and not a daily driver you could have a deal if the price is right.

A '98 Wrangler would have the 4.0 liter inline 6, not a V-6. It could also have a 4 cylinder.
The 4.0 liter 6 cylinder engine, when the oil is changed and basic maintenance is done, will last 250-300,000 miles or more. My '90 Cherokee has over 265,000 miles now with no major repairs required. I purchased it with 143,000 miles on it. I don't hesitate to drive mine anywhere.
I think anytime the mileage is below 200,000 on a 4.0 that has been cared for, you should consider keeping it if you own it and don't walk away if looking to buy it. They're worth fixing if repairs are needed as they will continue to run for a long time.
It's a solid motor known to last quite a while.

That sounds like a lot of miles to me. I have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4.0L and only have 68,000 on it. As long as the Jeep has been serviced regularly and taken well care of, it may be in good shape. I wouldn't pay a lot for it though.
Go to www.kbb.com and check the value of the Jeep you are looking at. I would not pay over what it states as the blue book value for a Jeep with that many miles.
Hope this helps.

If your looking to buy and are trying to finance yes it is. I'm assuming your talking about an I-6. (Same as my '88 and '98 Cherokee.) These engines are pretty reliable if maintained well. Parts are easy to find and are relatively inexpensive. So if the price is right buy it. Paid 4K for my '98 with 103,000 miles about two years ago and have never had a problem. Paid $1200 for my '88 had over 200,000 miles. Only had to replace the alternator, water pump, and fuel injectors. (Normal wear and tear)

it's a straight six! and yes 175,000 is too many miles! its a gas engine not a diesel! unless this person selling it is going low I wouldn't buy it! now you can talk him down and buy a rebuilt six and have someone put it in. total cost for a re built engine is about 2,000 to 3,000 dollars total for the engine and the labor! also, if it is an automatic trans mission you might see some problems with it soon! now matter what they say about the condition of the engine, remember they are trying to sell it! to get it off of their hands! be smart! you can find a good deal just look around!

No such thing as a v6 in a wrangler, you have an inline 6.
Got over 500K on my '87 an it's still purring.
So long as they're properly maintained, they'll last a lifetime.

first of all Jeeps are something else. they're amazing. second i own a 93 grand Cherokee, and i have 254,000 mi. on it... i drive it daily at least 20 miles per day, it works maybe better than the newer ones. somebody else in the answers said he had one with 240,000 miles. i believe him. theres never a lot of miles for a jeep, if u take care of it very well it will be alright. good luck...
