Yes, just like humans, dogs can deliver stillborn pups.
Many things can cause it (Just like a human...). Usually a sign that the pup wouldn't have survived had it been born alive.

Yes, puppies can be born stillborn (dead).
Problems can include: the mother was too young to be bred; the puppy didn't develop properly; the mother gave birth too soon and the pups weren't fully developed; the mother ingested poison or other substance that was toxic to her and the pups; the mother had a uterine infection or high fever that caused her body's immune system to go into overdrive and kill the undeveloped pups... All sorts of things can lead to such deaths.
This is why we tell folks that it's NEVER a good idea to let small children witness the birth of a litter of pups. You never know if the pups are going to come out fully developed, alive, or dead...

Well yes, it can happen but I don't believe it's too common. It could be caused by several things. Although sad I would rather have that happen right at the begining than to see them die off from fading litter syndrome. That is particularly sad and heartbreaking. I've had to deal with that. So healthy acting one day and weak and dying the next.

yes, dogs can have stillborn litters... or even one or two stillborn pups. it can be caused by several factors... poor nutrition, maybe the female was mistreated while pregnant... or, maybe it just wasnt meant for that particular litter to make it... there are many, many factors that can affect it.

Yes, many things can cause it. Brucellosis is a doggie std that will cause miscarriage (that why it should always be tested for before breeding), but so can poor nutrition, genetic defects, hard labor and others
