Well I have been going out with this guy for 6 months! and I don't think we are good for each others because he talks to me a lot, but when we are around his family he ignores me like i am not there at all! and My friend wants me to go out with one of her friends, which is pretty nice, and he doesn't ignore me, he talks to me, he even holds the door open for me. But I don't know who to choose. Please give me some pointers!!!!

Your to young to choose yet!!!, consider all the alternatives....my advise is : Tell your boyfriend that this ignoring situation in front of his family is bothering you a lot!! (he is a guy maybe he doesn't notice at all) also go for a cup of coffee with your friends friend (i don't know how old are you but) in the possible try to kept it sex-free, its the best so you won't get hurt at the end... after some time reconsider your choices and priorities
