I have a great friend. Whenever we're together, and ESPECIALLY when we are hanging out with other peope, he's always cracking jokes about me being gay. Like if we are playing pool, he's obviously gonna refer to the pool stick as a you-know-what, saying I like the pool stick. Things like that. Well...he's does this excessively. What can this signify?

It signifies you need a new friend. If you aren't willing to go that far, give it back.

It signifies that he has an obsession with homosexuality. I know someone like that. He doesn't direct it towards me (I'm a girl) but he makes jokes and references very frequently to others. Sometimes it is funny but most of the time not. He kind of embarrasses himself at times.
Basically I tell him he's a homosexual and that he should just come out of the closet where he'll be much happier. I can get away with it...I don't know if you can though - he might get mad at you (?).
Try it! Give it right back.

It signifies he feels insecure around you and is trying to use the old pulley system to bring himself up by putting you down. Obviously, the more you protest when he does this, the more guilty you look. This guy is no friend. If you want his friendship, I suggest you speak with him very assertively and let him know you don't appreciate the comments. If he continues, anyway, dump him. There are strangers out there who are better friends than he is.

He says that he is uncomfortably being in a public place with you... gay bashing or making jokes like that proves to him and others that just because he is friends with you does not mean that he is gay as well. He is uncomfortable and maybe a little homo-phobic when with you.

Alot of people are like that, I can relate. Some people choose to make fun of someone that they are most comfortable with, just to make themselves feel better, or look better in front of other people. He obviously only wants to gain popularity. He probably knows that you value him as a friend therefore he isnt afraid of you getting mad at him, therefore he uses you, to make himself look superior in front of other people

Next time just crack another joke back at him.

He mostly does it because he is uncomfortable with you being so open and honest with how you feel and who you are. Tell him to knock it off because it really does hurt your feelings. If he is a true friend he will apologize and stop. Maybe he just doesn't realize just how much it is bugging you. If he doesn't then I would re-think about who your friends are. Because I true friend wouldn't care and wouldn't tease you about it! Good luck!

Depends on his age, he may feel uncomfortable with his own sexuality, or perhaps have some kind of physiological phallic issue. Or maybe he is just immature and feels that you are the easiest target.

i think it signifies jealousy and insecurity. why is he worrying about your life so much instead of his own? he says it to make himself feel better and powerful because the only way he can is by putting somebody else down, which is weak and very childish

One of two things:
- he's gay and he likes you and suspects that you might be gay as well.
- he's an immature little boy who'll eventually grow out of it.

In either case, I suspect if you tell him to grow the he** up, he'll probably stop.
