Maybe you should try going with lo-lights instead. I have dark hair as well and have lo-lights around my face. Try asking your stylist what might work for you colorwise like a caramel or deep honey color but not blonde. You could even go with auburn/red if you are feeling bold enough but if you are looking for a subtle change try the caramel range of colors. Good luck and always consult with your stylist first before doing something!

My only suggestion would be that you have it done in a salon. Any time I've seen someone do their own highlights they look horrible. Highlights look really good though when they are done right. I like that dark maroon color for a couple highlights. Then maybe some lighter brown.

If you like very funky and young-looking styles, you could use hot red or hot pink. I have seen that a lot lately.

Color depends on your lifestyle. Pitch black with auburn highlights is also beautiful. It gives a more polished, reserved kind of look.

It depends on the skin color, but some sort of golden color goes well with brown.

If somebody is red, you can highlight with silvery brown on the tips. You always want to go on the softer side with red by using silvery browns, golds, or coppers.

This model is really freaky, but scroll down to the bottom of the page. There are multiple shades of darker blondes and deep reds.
