My favorite book in the bible! im still young, but i think its awesome if someone is intrested in the bible. Revelation is very hard to understand, impossible without God. God helps you understand. Revelation is prophesies on what is to come in our future. there are 7 trumpets (basically 7 signs) of the end times. It includes like , wars, rumours of war, famines, anti-christ, signs in heaven and earth and others. and anti-christ is the man everyone will love, but he will be satan in flesh. Revelation is an awesome book it has tons of stuff. The rapture of the church, then anti-christ shows up, one world government, supposed peace for 7 years, then 1000 year rain of Jesus Christ, and then the devil will be let loose. A really good book to read that explains alot is left behind series. it may be fake but its based on what will happen.

I've never got beyond the letters to the 7 churches in the first 3 chapters - too hard. It was one of the books that might not have made the canon back in the 300s because it is so hard.
There are different ways of understanding it.
You'd have to read to understand these differing views.
You'd need to know about Apocalyptic writings in general to help. Also there are links to earlier prophecies in Daniel and Zechariah I think.
Jesus is going to come again, there's going to be an awful period before that happens, with a lot of political trouble centred on Israel. A mean dude called the antichrist who will be a religious control-freak will cause a load of bother.

When Jesus comes those who are his will be spared from the wrath that will be upon the earth. As I understand revelations there will be first the tribulation when people will still have time to accept Jesus as their saviour. Mostly this will be a time for the Hebrew nation to return to their first love God by accepting Jesus as their saviour and king.
Next Jesus himself will come with all his saints to reign for approximately 1000 years on earth. Satan and his followers will be cast and locked into the pit of hell for this time span. At the end of 1000 years Satan will be let loose for his last fling at deceiving mankind; this time will be very short. Last will be the judgments: First, the great white throne judgment where those who denied Jesus and the Holy Spirit will be cast out of the presence of God for all eternity. Second, will be the bema seat judgment for the saints of God where they will not be punished but rather rewarded according to the good they did while on earth. They will be given crowns which they will lay at Jesus feet in gratitude for all he has provided for them both in this world and in the next.

The book of Revelation has such vast depths, that all the books in the world would not be able to contain a description of its meaning|
We have to remember that the book of Revelation is almost all symbolic, with one event or narrative referring to an infinite number of possible situations, which are different, but are related by an *analogous theme* with that narrative describing it symbolically|
It is the template of the struggle of *good against evil* in salvation history from the Resurrection of Jesus to the Consummation of the World at the End of Time|

It's too much to put here all I can tell you is....we win.Basically the Anti-Christ will come as a peacemaker and settle the problems in the Middle east with a 7 yr. peace pact.!/2 way through he breaks it showing his true colors and attacks Israel.Nukes are falling, water and grain are poisoned.Demons are unleashed,200 million Chinese start to march towards the Middle east. The sun is scorching people and giving them horrible sores, monsters like giant scorpions sting people and they want to die from the pain but can't.Moses and Elijah come and try to get people to repent but they are killed then resurrected right on TV so the whole world sees it and are freaked out.You will have to have a chip implanted in your hand to buy or sell.If you won't do it you will be executed ,if you do,you will not belong to God.But in chapter 19 Jesus comes out of heaven and slaughters the bad guys just by speaking. The Devil is thrown into the abyss for 1000 yrs and Jesus rules on Earth. After the 1000 yrs the Devil gets out ,tries one more time and this time God throws him in the lake of fire.(The church is Raptured in Chapter 4 so we miss all the bad stuff)Sounds like a great movie but it will be true.

He and his disciples will Reign for 1000 years.
Rev 20:1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Rev 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Rev 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Rev 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Good question sara
Jesus said it in one statement:
"So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth". - Jesus (Matt. 13:49

It's John. He is/they are known for being rather melodramatic.
My understanding is that, rather than defining an apocalypse that will inevitably be, it is a form of mythology or parable set in the future to describe an allegorical downfall of malignancy. There are doubtlessly a great many meanings that can be derived from this parable (though I haven't spent enough time on it myself), though I seriously doubt that any of them is intended to be a literal interpretation.
