My little girl (10) She just started her menstrual cycle and I wonder if I should talk to her about sex? She is so young. Her body is developing so fast but my baby's mind is so behind...She is still into dollies and toys. An yet more than once I've been asked if she is 14 or 15 ? How can I decide when she is ready for that talk?
Please help..

Now is a very good time to start talking to her. I can recommend 2 excellent books for you to buy and these can be used to jump-start the discussions. These books are also on HER level and she can read them in private and then ask questions. Look them up on www.amazon.com and see what you think. You might also find them in a large bookstore like BooksAMillion or Barnes & Noble.

The Care and Keeping of You: The Body Book for Girls (American Girl Library)

The Girl's Life Guide to Growing Up (The Girls' Life Series)

Good luck!!!!

The best moment to talk about sex is when she starts spontaneously inquiring about the subject, that means she is ready and open to know about that. There is not exact age, and the physical development is not an indicator that she is psychologically at the same level of maturity.
Good luck!!

I'd say keep that door open and at the first hint she is getting curious or asking questions, THEN tell her. But remember, 11 is the age they recommend the new inoculation against uterine cancer... before they get sexually active!

If anything, you need to worry about guys & teens harrassing her &/or her getting pregnant as a child or teen. watch the friends she has in the future. I heard It's happened with an 11 yr. old & may happen with your daughter.

She is going to grow up very fast now. I would wait before I talk to her and observe her first. You will see the changes when they come.
