I have a huge crush on this guy i used to go to school with and i finally got up the nerve to tell him and i asked him if i had a chance in heck with him and he said if he wasnt dating someone right now he would go out with me in a heartbeat. He also said that iam beautiful, hot and georgeous. He said that if he wasnt with her he would be chasing after me. I told him well if something happens (and i hope not if you love her) that you know where iam. Right after i told him "i hope not if you love her" he just shrugged his shoulders. Whenever i said something along the lines of i hope they dont break up if he loves her he always shrugged his shoulders. What does that mean? does it mean he hopes something happens so he can be with me or what?

Im afraid you sort of got that wrong.
Shrugging his shoulder meant: I dont care.
If he should lose her he has got other girls (e.g. you) waiting in line to fill in her place.
So he doesnt care much if one or the other breaks up with him.

Nope...He's a guy! He sees all possibilities! He's probably not in love with her right now from what you've said! But he has a stable relation and doesn't know if he can give that up for you! But in the event that something happens and he somehow breaks up with the girl or stops loving her he has a back-up...you! He might have some feelings for you but he is unsure! Deep in he's mind he would like to have you both probably. And by the way guys don't really go for the things you say like "I hope you don't break up." He'll understand that a relationship is not that important to you, that he is not that important! Us guys get the message raw. If you say you don't want something we won't ask you the second time. Try different tactics! Try playing hard to get! We like it when a girl is hard to get! Makes her interesting. If a girl says she has a crush on me and I currently have a good relationship I wouldn't switch! Unless you are really hot! So my opinion is that either very good looks or playing hard to get, making things interesting might turn the odds in your favor! Or a combination! ;)

He complimented you so your feelings wouldn't be hurt by his rejection. Evidently he has a heart. The shrug? A polite way to say he is content where he is as of now. Continue to be nice. Do some back ground checking before you put yourself on front street again. People have a natural tendacy to not think of other's feelings and you might get bruised. Rule: if the person has a partner, don't butt in. Let nature take its course. If he was your boy friend, how would you feel if someone had the same conversation with him that you did?

It sounds like he could be trying to let you down easy. His attitude toward his current girlfriend is also indicative of how he views women and/or relationships. He's not likely to value any other women more than he does his current girlfriend. He comes across as indifferent. Don't count on anything changing. I don't agree that he hopes something happens to break them up, he has the option of breaking up with her if he so chose. He's in the relationship by choice and you may be reading into what he saids what you would like to hear. I hope you look around and see who else you could be dating. No way I'd wait for this guy. If her really wanted you he would make something happen. Guys don't sit in relationships out of conveniance, they go after the hottest one they can get. If he was more attracted to you than her he would drop her like a sack of potatoes in a heart beat.

Commendable on his part, he's staying true to his commitment.
Be patient. Not every relationship is perfect but he may put a whole lot less effort in keeping his together if he knows that you'll be there in the end.

It means he is scum. Think about it this way.... If you get him and you are his girlfriend...how do you know he won't be doing that stuff behind your back??? You can't trust a guy like that...just move on and find someone that will treat you better and not keep you on the back burner...your better then him! Good luck!

it is a non-commital positive answer. he's not going to go to any detail about his current girl with you. that's a good thing. if he's not a dog, it means that if something happens and he breaks up with current girl then he will call you. my advice is to go on with your life. if you are both single at the same time then hookup. if not ...oh well. don't wait for him.

He most certainly wouldn't mind dating both of you. It might even give him a reason to break up with his current if she "accidentally" found out.
He wants you more than the girl he's with now. Bottom line.

he likes you duh he just maybe afraid to admit maybe he probally has feelings for you and he wants to break up with his girlfreind but he doesnt still at the same time dont want to just always be yourself around him and thats all i have to say
