Any service that you join does not require a driver's license. However, once you are at a permanent duty station they might require you to have one so that you can drive various types of equipment.

Someone mentioned that you need one for a security clearance....NOT TRUE!! I worked w/ lots of people who came in, had a clearance and never obtained one. But, they had to get one to drive duty vehicles. A security clearance is all based on a background check, not if you have a state license.

No, it is a wise move though. If you get stationed overseas like Germany, you must have a stateside license before you can get a license to drive in Germany. Overall, you do not need a license but I would recommend it.

No if you get an MOS that requires driving you will be given a driving course and exam and then be licensed by the govt. No biggy. in any case you will have to qualify to get permission to drive various vehicles so you will be taught how to drive one way or another. If you were talking about for Id purposes NO all you need is your birth certifiacte or immigration papers.

no, not to enlist. some MOSs do require that you have a civilian driver's license (88M, etc.).

The 680 (request for examination) that everyone fills out in order to join has a space for civ driver's license.

No, talk to your local recruiter and he/she will tell you what you need. And to all those who are using this as an opportunity to bash the military. Ask yourself who gave you the right to say what ever you want to say?
