See if this helps.
The chances of you winning the lotto are about the same as you throwing a coin off of the 100th floor of a large skyscraper and having it land in a small paper cup on the street below.
How come somebody eventually wins?
Think about a huge dump-truck full of millions of coins being dumped off the 100th floor at the same time. One is bound to go in.

If its any consolation the odds are against you but you can technically win the lottery. I heard that you would most likely have to spend at least $15,000 dollars a day to have a respectable chance to win the lottery in a one year period on a six figure draw numbers ranging between 01 an 50. I don't how they came to this figure but the drawing for the lottery would have to be about $10,000,000 before you would see yourself making a cent and if the pot split then you would be in the hole.
Things happen for a reason and though winning the lottery would be nice there are other things nicer that you cant get with money.

Same reason why myself and millions of others can't - the odds are definitely against us.
