There are magazines that have directions for cut out cakes.
Another Idea for DIY cut out cake simple designs:
A childs first coloring book might picturea simple shapes to copy as an outline for a cake.
You would have to improvise , but the shape is very simple to cut from round or square cakes and put the pieces together using Icing as the glue, and then ice the whole cake and decorate accordingly.

You can use cutters that buy at the store....or you can make your own by making a "pattern" and using a knife, cut out the shape.
Keep the shape simple....then pour the icing over it .....cut them out of a layer that you have baked ahead.
Just use you imagination...easiest are diamonds, squares, circles, but you can do hearts, shamrocks, trees, etc.....
